The Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port is a modern five floor property located in the city centre, 500 metres from the old harbour and the historic Canebiere area. The 131 guestrooms feature provincial style decor, wood furnishings and colourful fabrics. All include down and feather mattresses, flat screen televisions with satellite channels and pay movies, high speed Internet connections, telephones, minibars and safes. Bathrooms include tubs, robes, makeup mirrors and complimentary toiletries.
After breakfast, guests can cool off in the outdoor pool and take in panoramic views from the poolside terrace. The hotel's top floor restaurant, Les Trois Forts, serves typically Mediterranean dishes accompanied by local wines, while the informal bar offers harbour views and serves snacks and drinks until late. The hotel houses eight meeting rooms, the largest of which can accommodate up to 130 people. Taxis are available from the airport; typical fare to the hotel is 50 EUR. Shuttle buses run every 20 minutes to/from Marseille Saint Charles railway station and Aix en Provence bus station. The nearest station to the hotel is Vieux Port metro station, on Metro Line One, 800 metres away. Two metro (subway) lines cross the city. Metro One links the eastern suburbs to the north eastern suburbs via the old port. Metro Two takes a north south route. The lines intersect at SNCF St Charles, the main railway station, and Castellane. Efficient bus and tram services also operate in the city.
Driving directions: From the airport, take highway A55 to Marseille. Exit at Marseille Vieux Port to Pharo. Stay in the right hand lane and turn right after 300 metres for the hotel.
